Vanessa Hudgens and her actor boyfriend, Austin Butler, visited a protected rock formation in Sedona, Arizona this past Valentine’s Day. The two carved their names and a heart into the red rock to express their love to each other. She took a picture of it and posted in her Instagram account which read “Austin + Vanessa”.Unfortunately, the said post gave authorities ample evidence to pursue a misdemeanor count of damaging a natural feature on U.S. Forest Service land, the Associated Press reports.
Hudgens has now reportedly paid a $1,000 fine to resolve the crime, which is punishable by up to six months in jail and a maximum $5,000 citation. The money from Hudgens’ fine will go toward helping a volunteer group called Friends of the Forest restore the rock wall, according to the AP.
“She was caught in the act because she publicized it and she’s famous,” Coconino National Forest Service spokesman Brady Smith said. Vanessa Hudgens is an American actress and a singer who rose to prominence playing Gabriella Montez in the High School Musical series.
